Sara Smith was named the Associate Athletic Director for Athletic and Voller Athletic Center Operations in the summer of 2026. Her duties will include managing all operations for the fields and athletic center including the pool, Roberts Stadium, Redhawks Turf Field and the Voller Athletic Center.
Smith arrived at Roberts as the first Head Coach of the men’s and women’s swimming program in March of 2017. She led the teams to multiple Metropolitan Conference championships and coached the first swimmers from both the men's and women's teams to compete in the NCAA Division II Championships.
Sara’s background in swimming comes from being a competitive athlete in the Niagara LSC from the time she was 8 through her collegiate career. As an age group swimmer, Sara was a top qualifier at LSC championship meets, selected to Zone All-Star teams, Speedo Sectional qualifier and held many places in the LSC’s top-10.
After high school, Sara went on to compete for the Nazareth College Golden Flyers where shew as a strong competitor. In her first year she placed in the top 12 at Empire 8 Conference Meet going on to place in the top 10 her remaining years.
Smith joined Roberts after serving as the Program Director of Marlins Swimming, Inc, since 2012 and Varsity Swim Coach at Spencerport High School. Sara’s coaching resume includes coaching multiple athletes to top-10 finishes at the LSC level, 10+ LSC Champions, multiple LSC Zone-All Star Champions and Qualifiers, 5 Section V Champions, 5 NYS Qualifiers and over 5 dozen Marlin team records broken by athletes she has trained. Additionally, Smith was named the Assistant Coach of the United States Deaf Swim Team at the 2014 Deaf World Championship meet and Assistant Coach for Niagara LSC at Eastern Zone Age Group Championships in 2016.
In addition to Sara’s coaching experience, she is a volunteer for the Niagara LSC as the secretary since 2015 as well as the Age Group Vice Chair since 2016.
Sara graduated from Nazareth College in 2011 with a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration and from St. John Fisher College in 2013 with her Masters in Business Administration.
Outside of the pool, she owns and operates a 100% minority-owned construction business in Rochester, NY and is the managing director for a Not-for-Profit educational business in Henrietta, NY.
Smith resides in Scottsville, NY with her husband Robert and sons Ezekiel and Kai.
