Matt St. James Cross Country Trails
The beautiful wooded trails located on the north side of the Roberts Wesleyan Campus are dedicated to distance runner and alumnus Matt St. James. Matt St. James is a 2003 Churchville-Chili High School graduate before graduating from Roberts Wesleyan in 2007 with a bachelor's degree in Social Work. During his time at Roberts Wesleyan, Matthew was a top runner on the both the Cross Country and Track & Field teams throughout his four years and was known to always giving it his all, running for the glory of God.
On March 14, 2007, Matt was running during a practice on the outdoor track when he went into cardiac arrest, suffering a brain injury as a result. After spending more than three years at Monroe Community Hospital, Matt is now living at home. He has come a long way since that day and God is doing great things through Matt and his family.
In early September, the trails serve as a venue for the Matt St. James 5k, which benefits the St. James family as they care for Matthew at home. They also host the annual Harry F. Anderson Invitational and Greg Greve Alumni 5k during Homecoming weekend. In 2014, the East Coast Conference Cross Country Championships were run on the 5k and 8k courses.
