The Roberts Wesleyan College women's basketball team (7-5, 1-1 AMC) lost to Daemen College (9-1, 3-0 AMC) 75-58 in an AMC conference game on Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at the Voller Athletic Center.
Both teams started slowly and the score was tied 13-13 with 10 minutes left in the first half. The Wildcats closed the half strong, finishing with a 25-7 run. Senior Sarah Soroka contributed 9 points and Alanna Laguerre hit two big three's as Daemen closed the half ahead 38-20.
The Wildcats continued their dominance in the second half. The closest the Lady Raiders came in the second half was the 17 point gap where they ended the game.
The teams were evenly matched defensively. Roberts forced 18 turnovers while committing 19. The Lady Raiders made 9 steals compared to Daemen's 8, and the rebound battle was tied 49-49. Roberts led in blocked shots 8 to 6.
Offensively, Roberts struggled from the field, shooting only 33.3% from the field, including 3 for 13 at 23.1% from the three point arc. Daemen shot 42.1% from the field and connected on 7 of 22 threes at 31.8%. The Wildcats shared the ball, making 25 assists to Roberts' 14.

Sarah Child with 14 points and 2 blocks. Senior point guard

Bianca Jones each added 9 points, and Jones grabbed a game high 11 rebounds. Senior point guard
Cynnetha Bellinger contributed 5 points, 4 assists, and 2 steals.
All – American forward Sarah Soroka led the Wildcats with 26 points, 11 rebounds, and 3 blocks.
“We really struggled shooting the basketball tonight, especially at the free throw line (9-22),” said head coach
Bob Segave.”We can't give those points away. Offensively, Daemen really took some stuff away from us, and we did not move the ball as well as we have been. The 19 turnovers did not help either. Soroka was really tough tonight, and Bailey and Laguerre each hit a couple threes that hurt. Sarah (Child) and Bianca (Jones) did a nice job tonight for us.”
The Raiders are now 1-1 for conference play. They hit the road this weekend to participate in the Shawnee State Classic in Portsmouth, Ohio. They play Shawnee State on Friday December 10, 2010at 8 and Indiana Wesleyan on Saturday December 11, 2010 at 12PM.
