Men's Soccer Falls to Houghton 2-1

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (October 19, 2011) – The Men's Soccer team fell to rival Houghton College 2-1 on Senior Night.

Both sides played well in the first half as both teams managed four shots on goal. 
 
The Raiders' first opportunity came in the 12th minute when Dominic Coco put a shot on frame, but shot the ball right into the hands of the Highlanders goalkeeper Eric Dehond.
 
Brent Owens opened the scoring Raiders when he blasted a shot past Dehond in the 17th minute when he found the ball in space at the top of the 18-yard box.
 
Houghton put on the pressure 30 minutes in as the team had two point blank shot from inside the 6-yard box, but the Raiders defense absorbed the pressure and was able to keep the clean sheet.
 
Both teams managed four shots on goal in the first half with Houghton earning six corner kicks to the Raiders' three.
 
In the 53rd minute, Cory Martin sent a shot just over the crossbar for the Highlanders first good opportunity in the second half.
 
Paul Seddon scored  in the 58th minute to tie the game for the visitors and a minute later Michael Dix added a second goal to put Houghton up 2-1.

Houghton had 12 corner kicks and six shots on goal as the Raiders had three corner kicks and five shots on goal.
 
The loss puts the Raiders at 7-8-1 overall and 5-3-0 in the American Mideast Conference.
 
The travels to North Canton, OH to face Walsh University this Saturday at 2pm.
