Men's Soccer Defeat Asbury; Earn Trip to NAIA's

NORTH CANTON, Ohio (November 12, 2011) – The Men's Soccer team earned their bid to the NAIA National Championship this evening after defeating the Asbury University Eagles, 3-2 in an NAIA Unaffiliated play-in game.

The Raiders scored three first-half goals and were able to hang on for the win. The last time the Raiders qualified for the NAIA National Championship was in 2000.

Hayden Hoebeke put the Raiders on the board in the 26th minute. The goal was Hoebeke's first of the season as Michael Cunningham earned the assist.

Stephen Stewart would score in the 40th minute and Ricky DiPasquale added the third Raiders goal in the 43rd minute.

The Eagles would make things interesting late in the game. Kyle Blair put the Eagle on the board in the 81st minutes to make the score 3-1. In the 84th minute, Ryan Moberley made the score 3-2.

The win puts the Raiders at 11-9-1 on the season.

The Raiders advance to the Opening Round of the NAIA National Championship, which is scheduled for next Saturday. The site and time is yet to be determined.
