Raiders Fall to Linsey Wilson in Opening Round

Box Score

COLUMBIA, Ky. (November 19, 2011) – The Men's Soccer team fell 7-0 to #1 Lindsey Wilson College in the Opening Round of the NAIA Men's Soccer Championship this evening.

After pelting the Raiders goalkeeper Eric Read with five shots, the Blue Raiders finally broke through in the 22nd minute when Eddy Campbell kicked a quick grounder past Read from 10 yards out to make it a 1-0 game.

The Blue Raiders held the Raiders to no shots in the first half and had little opportunity in the offensive third for most of the half. Despite the lack of offense, the Raiders managed to keep things close by holding the potent Blue Raiders attack at bay for the rest of the first half.

Lebogang Moloto gave the Blue Raiders their second goal from nearly the same spot as the first goal in the 59th minute to make the score 2-0.

Moloto and Philip Sandgren would put the game away with goals in the 77th and 79th minustes to make it a 4-0 game.

Adding insult to injury, Sandgren added his second goal of the game in the 83rd minute to make it a 5-0 lead over the Raiders.

The Blue Raiders would add two more in the 87th minute to make the final score 7-0.

Read would finish the game with eight saves for the Raiders.

The loss ends the Raiders season with a final record of 11-10-1.
