Healy to Continue Hoops Career at Roberts

Roberts Wesleyan College is proud to announce that Sacred Heart Academy's (Buffalo, NY) Christina Healy has signed a letter of intent to continue her academic and athletic career at Roberts Wesleyan next season.

A three year varsity starter and a two time team captain, Healy has led her team to three consecutive trips to the NYCHAA State Tournament, advancing all the way to the Class A finals in 2010. At Sacred Heart Academy, Healy was a force inside on both ends of the floor, averaging 8 points, 8 rebounds and 2 blocked shots per game for her career, while shooting 45% from the field. As a junior, Healy averaged 10 points, 7 rebounds and 2.5 block shots leading her team to 22 wins and earning All - Western New York Second Team honors.

In 2008 - 2009, Healy was named MVP of the United Way Tip Off Tournament in Jamestown, NY. In 2009 – 2010, she was named MVP of the All – Catholic Tournament in Avon, NY and earned All – Tournament honors in the Pastor Cooper Memorial Tournament.

Christina is the daughter of Barbara and Kevin (deceased) Healy and the step daughter of Michael Sacchitella. She has an older sister Sarah and a younger sister Katherine. The family resides in Lancaster, NY. Christina plans to major in Education at Roberts Wesleyan. She enjoys listening to music and cooking. She has also played Varsity Soccer and participated in ski club. Christina is extremely active in volunteer activities such as Vacation Bible School, The Training Wheels Program for Mentally Challenged Individuals, and Down Syndrome support.

“Adding a player of Christina's character and ability is tremendous,” said Head Coach Bob Segave. “Christina has played against top level competition over the past three years, playing a demanding high school schedule that culminated in three straight NYCHSAA state tournament appearances. She has also played AAU at the National level. Christina is long, athletic post who runs the floor very well. She will fit into our system perfectly and, because of her work ethic, her best basketball is still ahead of her. Most importantly, she is a great fit for the college and a wonderful young lady.”
