Men's Soccer Falls on the Road to Bridgeport

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (October 14, 2012) – The Men's Soccer teams three game winning streak came to an end this afternoon as the Redhawks fell to the University of Bridgeport Purple Knights, 2-1.

The visitors were able to get on the board first in the 21st minute when Michael Cunningham score off of a free kick from just outside the 18-yard box. The goals is Cunningham's ninth goal of the season and has scored five times in the last seven games.

Bridgeport would respond about ten minutes later when Christoffer Olesen scored on a header that was sent into the area from Luis Fajardo to tie things up at 1-1.

The Purple Knights would then take the lead for good just two minutes into the second half when Andreas Blanke sent one past the Redhawks' goalkeeper Michael Scavone.

The loss drops Roberts Welseyan to 6-8-0 overall and 3-4-0 in the East Coast Conference.

The team returns home to close out the regular season with three games remaining on the 2012 slate. First up for the Redhawks is a match-up against St. Thomas Aquinas College this Saturday 4pm.
