ROCHESTER, N.Y. (October 28, 2012) – The Men's Soccer team powered their way to a 4-0 win over the visiting Firebirds of the University of the District of Columbia this afternoon.
Freshman
Brandon Bianchi got things going in the 35
th minute after
Brent Owens fed him the ball, then beating Firebirds' goalkeeper Risheq Waleed. The home team would take the 1-0 lead into the locker room at the half.
In the second half, the Redhawks struck quickly and often as the Redhawks outshot the Firebirds 18 to 7 in the game.
In the 47
th minute,
Johnny Lobene netted his first goal of the season before
Alex Harling slotted the ball home in the 54
th minute.
Senior
Donavan Wilson capped off the scoring in the 69
th minute to give the Redhawks their fourth goal of the game, which was the most the team has scored this season.
In goal,
Michael Scavone earned his fourth shutout of the season after making four saves in the game.
The win puts the Redhawks record at 7-8-1 overall and 4-4-1 in the East Coast Conference.
Roberts Wesleyan will look to close out the regular season with a win next Saturday when they host Houghton College at 7pm.
