Men's Soccer Drops NCCAA Opener to California Baptist

KISSIMMEE, Fla. (November 28, 2012) – The Men's Soccer tell dropped their quarterfinal game to California Baptist University, 4-0, this afternoon in the NCCAA National Championship.

The Redhawks were under pressure most of the game as sophomore goalkeeper Micheal Scavone was called upon to make seven saves in the game.

California Baptist, the defending NCCAA champions, got on the board quickly when Jonathan Fausto snuck a shot past Sacavone from the near left side after receiving the ball from Cole Schmit on a free kick play in the 10th minute.

Just seven minutes later, Alex Anderson would scorehis seventh goal of the season, beating his defenders on a throough ball from Marc Hope. In the 27th minute, Hope add to his team's lead after he sent a shot soaring to the upper right corner.

After the intermission, the Lancers would put the game away with their fourth goal of the game in the 51st minute when Braeden Pilcher scored in open space off of another through ball.

Roberts Wesleyan, the 7-seed, managed to get off 10 shots in the game while putting four on frame. Freshman forward Brandon Bianchi led the team with two shots on goal.

The loss drops the Redhawks record to 10-9-1 on the season as they now wait to see who they will play in a consolation game tomorrow at noon. They will face the loser of the #3 Union (Tenn.) University/#6 Grace (Ind.) College quarterfinal game that takes place later today.
