SYRACUSE, N.Y. (March 20, 2012) - The Women's Tennis team defeated LeMoyne College this afternoon, 6-3. The win is the team's second win of the spring season, both coming against NCAA Division II opponents.
Junior
Dina Obukhova won both 1st sigles and 1st doubles with
Maria Jimenez. In singles action, Obukhova defeated Caroline Tisdell in three long sets (5-7, 6-4, 10-5). In doulbes play, Obukhova/Jimenez downs Tisdell and Rebecca Black 8-3.
Other winners in singles were Jimenez in 2nd singles,
Meg Kelly in 3rd singles, and
Julia Vitale in 5th singles. Vitale was challenged by LeMoyne's Margaret Lafleur, edging out a win in three sets 4-6, 6-4, 10-8.
Kelly/Vitale also earned a point in 2nd doubles by defeating Jessia Geary and Margaet Lafleur 9-8 (7-2).
The win puts the Raiders at 2-4 in the spring season and 6-7 overall in 2011-12.
The team is back in action this Saturday when they make their home debut against Carlow University at 10am.
