ROCHESTER, N.Y. (April 21, 2012) – The Women's Lacrosse team suffered a 25-11 setback this afternoon on the road against the Rochester Institute of Technology Tigers.
The Raiders came into the game looking for their sixth win in their inaugural season which would have evened their record at 6-6.
The visiting Raiders were competitive in the first half and trailing only 13-11 at the half. At one point in the half, the Raiders led 6-4 after
Theresa Catteau scored with 17:05 minutes left on the clock to cap off three straight goals for the visitors.
RIT, however, would score five straight and nine of the next 14 goals to take the two goal lead into the break. The Tigers would then score seven unanswered to begin the second half, shooting out to a 20-11 lead before the Raiders stopped the bleeding with goals coming from
Alison Kendall and
Vanessa Sell.
The goals were too little and too late as the Raiders couldn't make a comeback as the Tigers scored another four goals to secure the win. In all, the Raiders were outscored in the second half, 13-2.
Kendall led the way for the Raiders, scoring a game-high six goals off of nine shots. Kendall now has 56 goals to her credit this season.
Sell and Catteau each scored three goals while senior
Kara Farnsworth scored twice.
Lauren Mueller recorded the lone assist.
The Raiders are now 5-7 on the season and will look to finish the season on a high note when they close the out the season at Monroe CC this Tuesday at 4pm.
