Men's Soccer Host Mercy College in ECC Opener Tomorrow

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (September 20, 2012) – The Men's Soccer team looks to get back to winning ways tomorrow night when they host Mercy College in their first-ever East Coast Conference game.
 
The game, scheduled for 7pm, is the second part of a doubleheader where fans are encouraged to wear black as part of a BLACKOUT promotion.
 
SCOUTING ROBERTS WESLEYAN (2-3-0/0-0-0 ECC)
Most recently, the Redhawks lost 1-0 to an undefeated Cedarville Yellowjackets side last weekend. After giving up six goals in the first two games of the season, Roberts Wesleyan has allowed just one goal since then.
 
In the last three games, the Redhawks have seen four different goal scorers after freshman Brandon Bianchi scored three goals at Nyack's Warrior Invitational during opening weekend.
 
Sophomore goalkeeper Michael Scavone has been in excellent form with a 1.38 goals against average through five games. Scavone has made 19 saves while having picked up two shut-outs this season.
 
SCOUTING MERCY (5-1-2/0-1-0 ECC)
The Mavericks dropped their conference opener last weekend, a 4-3 overtime result against Molloy. Later in the week, Mercy tied Holy Family 1-1, their second draw of the season.
 
Leading the Mavericks is William Koki. Koki has 15 points (7 goals, 1 assist) through eight games. Mercy has found success in numbers as the team has eight different goal scorers.
 
Nick Papas has played every minute for the Mavericks with a solid 1.48 goals against average. Papas has made 34 saves and has a .723 save percentage.
