ROCHESTER N.Y. (Spetember 21, 2012)- Men's Soccer fell to Mercy College in tonight's match, losing in overtime 3-2.
In the 15
th minute of the match, Mercy College drew blood first, putting one past goalkeeper
Michael Scavone, making the score 1-0 with the Redhawks trailing. Sophomore Steven Stewart, however, answered with an equalizer and went one-on-one with Mercy's goalkeeper- burying a goal in the lower left corner.
Less than 5 minutes later, Sophomore
Michael Cunningham, bent a direct kick over the keeper's outstretched hands, giving the Redhawks a lead of 2-1.
The Redhawks seemed ready to soar into victory with less than 2 minutes remaining in the game, but the Mavericks managed to score an equalizing goal after the ball was tussled around in the box.
The match then went into overtime, the score still 2-2 at the end of the first 10 minutes. But within the first 30 seconds of the second over time, the Mavericks put one past the Redhawks, ending the game 3-2.
The Men's team travels this weekend to LIU, with a game on Sunday September 23.
