Women's Basketball: Dowling Downs Redhawks

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (January 12, 2013) – The Women's Basketball team fell to the visiting Dowling College Golden Lions this afternoon, 57-27.

Dowling, who placed just four spots outside the USA Today Top 25 Coaches' Poll this week, forced their will on the Redhawks for most of the game.

Sophomore forward Carneisha Henry led Roberts Wesleyan with nine points in the game to go along with six rebounds. The nine point output is the most since putting up 13 points on Nov. 27.

As a team, the Redhawks shot just 23.1% from the field and were a season worst 1 of 8 from the free-throw line.

Dowling was a force on the boards, out-rebounding Roberts Wesleyan 43 to 33. On the offensive boards, the Golden Lions finished with 18 to the Redhawks' 11 rebounds. Second chance points also favored the visitors as they scored 16 points on second opportunities compared to Roberts Wesleyan's eight points.

The Golden Lions were paced by senior Danielle Willson's 14 points and nine rebounds.

The loss drops the Redhawks record to 8-5 overall and evens their ECC record at 3-3.

Roberts Wesleyan will hit the road next week for two contests. The Redhawks will visit Molloy College on Thursday, Jan. 17 before traveling to Queens College on Saturday, Jan. 19.
