ROCHESTER, N.Y. (January 30, 2013) – The Women's Basketball team visits Mercy College tomorrow evening at 5:30pm.
The Redhawks defeated Mercy 73-43 in their first meeting of the season on Dec. 8 at home in the Voller Athletic Center.
SCOUTING ROBERTS WESLEYAN (9-8/4-6 ECC)
The Redhawks were able to snap a four-game losing skid by downing the University of the District of Columbia on Saturday, 67-61. The win evened the season series against the Firebirds after Roberts Wesleyan fell to UDC 59-56 earlier in the season.
Marissa Sell led the team with a 17-point and 11-rebound effort.
Sell, who made her first start of the season on Saturday, is now averaging in double-figures with 10.3 points per game. The sophomore is also averaging 8.2 rebounds per game through 11 games.
Samantha Courtney leads the Redhawks in total rebounds with 111 and is averaging a respectable 6.5 boards per game. The freshman is also averaging 9.3 points per game while leading the Redhawks with 32 blocks.
As a team, Roberts Wesleyan is averaging 64.8 points per game which puts them fourth overall in the conference.
SCOUTING MERCY (0-17/0-9 ECC)
Despite their winless record, the Mavericks have played admirably while searching for their first win of the season.
Leading the way on offense for Mercy is senior Aysha Williams. The guard is averaging 12.1 points per game while shooting 30.5% from the field. At the free-throw line, Williams is a respectable 70.4%.
Fellow senior Marquesha Moore is averaging 9.1 points per game and is second on the team with 6.4 rebounds per contest. Only Shaniqua Lewis is better on the boards with 6.7 rebounds per game.
As a team, the Mavericks are committing 18.5 turnovers per game, but have been forcing 19.8 turnovers from their opponents.

The Redhawks will be tested on Saturday when they travel to Old Westbury, N.Y. to face the 25
th-ranked New York Institute of Technology. The Bears have lost just once this season, a 68-58 decision to Dowling College on Jan. 23.
