ROCHESTER, N.Y. (October 28, 2013) – The Men's soccer team earned a 7-2 win over the visiting Alfred State College Pioneers this evening on Senior Night.
Getting Roberts Wesleyan on the board first was senior
Colton Orbaker, when he managed to slot his shot to the back of the net from the right side in the 7
th minute of the game.
After the Pioneers equalized with a goal from Kyle Jones in the 16
th minute,
Derek Holmes scored off of a corner kick to make it a 2-1 lead just a minute later.
Alfred State responded again in the 34
th minute when Mitchell Porter scored on long range shot which was too high for
Stephen Buscaglia to make a save.
In the 43
rd minute, junior forward #Michael Cunningham scored the eventual game-winner when he put his point blank shot in front of the goal to the back of the net, beating the Pioneers' goalkeeper Nick Smith.
Overall, the Redhawks kept the Alfred State defense busy as they pelted the visitors with 31 shots in the game with a total of 13 being placed on frame.
Buscaglia, a senior, earned the win in goal for Roberts Wesleyan after making three saves.
The win improves the Redhawks to 3-10-2 overall.
Roberts Wesleyan resumes East Coast Conference play this weekend when they travel to take on St. Thomas Aquinas on Friday and Mercy College on Sunday.
