Box Score

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (February 10, 2013) – Sophomore forward Marissa Sell record game highs of 24 points and 16 rebounds to lead Roberts Wesleyan past LIU Post, 70-66, this afternoon.

The win gives the Redhawks the season sweep over the Pioneers as Roberts Wesleyan were 76-65 winners at home back on Jan. 9 inside the Voller Athletic Center.

With 2:53 left in the game, the Redhawks actually led by 14 points after Alwardt hit a jumper to make it a 70-56 lead. Those would turn out to be the last points the visitors would score in the game, but the Redhawks defense held on for the win.

Sell, a sophomore, was solid from the field by shooting 56.3% from the field and a perfect 6 of 6 at the free-throw line.  Her 16 rebounds were a game high as Sell hauled in 14 defensive boards.

Senior Sarah Alwardt couldn't miss from the floor, going a perfect 5 of 5 as she added 13 points.

Freshman guard Lakiah Huff chipped in 12 points for the Redhawks while Marissa Bunce posted a game-high five assists.

As a team, the Redhawks shot 45.6% from the field and a respectable 76.2% from the charity stripe.

For the Pioneers, Kenyatta Sears led with 19 points after going 6 of 12 from the field and 5 of 10 from long range.

The win lifts Roberts Wesleyan to 11-10 overall and 6-8 in East Coast Conference play.

The team has little time to rest with their next game coming Monday evening at 6pm against #21-ranked Dowling College in Oakdale, N.Y.
