Women's Lacrosse Begin 2013 Season on the Road

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (February 14, 2013) – The Women's Lacrosse team travels south to begin their 2013 campaign with games at Catawba (N.C.) College and Erskine (S.C.) College.

The Redhawks will head to Salisbury, N.C. for a Saturday match-up with Catawba before they visit Erskine in Due West, S.C.

Both teams compete at the NCAA Division II level as Catawba is a member of the South Atlantic Conference with Erskine being a member of Conference Carolinas.

SCOUTING ROBERTS WESLEYAN (0-0/0-0 ECC)
The Redhawks are primed to begin their second season on a positive note after finishing their inaugural season with a 5-8 record. 
 
First year head coach Brendan McDaniels returns a solid core of returners, including Alison Kendall who was the team's points leader from last season. The junior midfielder finished last season with 59 points (56 goals, 3 assists).
 
Senior Vanessa Sell returns after finishing second in points with 39 (36 goals, 3 assists) in 2012. Sell led Roberts Wesleyan with a total of 53 draw controls while picking up 35 ground balls. Both Sell and Kendall lead the Redhawks with 17 caused turnovers
 
SCOUTING CATAWBA (0-1/0-0 SAC)
The Indians lost to No.6 Limestone (S.C.) College in a lopsided 19-3 loss on Feb. 12. Ebony Mills, a  junior, led Catwaba by scoring all three goals in the game.
 
Mills was a bright spot for the second year program as she led the team in goals per game in 2012. The attacker/midfielder scored 31 goals to go along with six assists last season.
 
SCOUTING ERSKINE (2-0/0-0 CC)
The Flyers, who have started the season with two wins, are looking to improve upon a 5-10 record in 2012. Erskine opened up this season with an 11-10 win over Shorter (Ga.) College before taking down Young Harris (Ga.) College 20-7.
 
Against Young Harris, senior Hillary Henry led the way with six goals off of just seven shots. Midfielder Samantha Burns finished with four goals to go along with two assists.
 
In goal, Konstandena Brown has seven saves on through their first two games of the season.
 
UP NEXT
Roberts Wesleyan will visit Le Moyne College in Syracuse, N.Y. on Saturday, Feb. 23 beofre making their home debut against Edinboro (Pa.) University on Saturday, Mar. 9 at 4:30pm.
