ROCHESTER, N.Y. (February 16, 2013) – The Women's Basketball team fell to the visiting Molloy College Lions this afternoon, 73-65, in East Coast Conference action.
The loss gave Molloy the season sweep over the Redhawks as the Lions were 71-62 winners back on Jan. 17.
After going into the locker room with a 39-33 lead at halftime, the Redhawks shot just 21.1% from the field in the second half.
With Roberts Wesleyan leading 51-44 with 13:11 on the clock, Molloy would go on a massive 28-7 run over the next eight minutes to solidify their lead.
Sophomore
Marissa Sell led the Redhawks with 14 points and 17 rebounds.
Lakiah Huff added 13 points for the home team as
Marissa Bunce chipped in 12 points after hitting four shots from beyond the arc.
Forward Carniesha Henry was just one rebound short of a double-double as she scored 10 points and grabbed nine rebounds.
Molloy's alex Hampton led the game with 18 points while the Lions bench scored 23 points compared to the Redhawks 10 bench points.
The loss drops Roberts Wesleyan to 11-12 overall and 6-9 in the ECC.
On Tuesday, the Redhawks travel south to Houghton to take on the Highlanders in non-conference action. Tip-off is set for 7pm.
