SALISBURY, N.C. (February 16, 2013) – The Women's Lacrosse team cruised to a 16-3 win on the road at Catawba College in their season opener.
Freshman
Loren Dunn made her collegiate debut by scoring a game-high seven goals off of just nine shots. Dunn was also a perfect 3 for 3 in free-position.
The Redhawks dominated in draw controls 14 to 5 with
Ali Fox leading the team with six draws.
Roberts Wesleyan put pressure on the Indians throughout the game, pelting Catawba's Bethany Davis with 33 shots.
For the Redhawks, freshman goalkeeper
Victoria Link picked up the win after making two saves in the first 30 minutes.
Stephanie McClure would play the entire second half, making three saves.
Alison Kendall earned a hat-trick for the visitors off of six shots as
Kelsey Covel and
Billie Jo Marr each scored twice.
The win is a bit of a milestone as the season opening victory is the first in the programs short two-year history.
Roberts Wesleyan is off until Tuesday when they face Erskine (S.C.) College at 4pm.
