Women's Basketball Hosts Queens College Saturday

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (February 22, 2013) – The Women's Basketball team hosts Queens College in East Coast Conference action tomorrow afternoon at 2pm.

The Knights downed Roberts Wesleyan 68-55 in their first meeting back on Jan. 19 in Flushing, N.Y.

Tickets are $3 at the door and are valid for both the women's and men's game, which follows at 4pm. Roberts Wesleyan College faculty, staff, and students are free with a valid College ID.
 
SCOUTING ROBERTS WESLEYAN (12-12/6-10 ECC)
The Redhawks come into Saturday's contest after having defeating Houghton College in non-conference play, 67-51. Senior guard Marissa Bunce led the way with 15 points, all of which came from beyond the three-point line.
 
Sophomore forward Marissa Sell continues to be a presence under the basket for the Redhawks this season. Sell is averaging 10.9 points per game and is nearly averaging a double-double with an average of 9.9 rebounds per game.
 
Despite the team only having one player scoring in double figures, Roberts Wesleyan is fourth in the ECC with an average of 64.5 points per game. Only NYIT, LIU Post, and the University of Bridgeport rank higher.
 
SCOUTING QUEENS (10-12/7-8 ECC)
The Knights have been playing at a high level in the second half of the season. The team has won six of their last nine games with their latest win coming in the form of a 58-39 home victory against the University of the District of Columbia.
 
Bria Jackson, a Rush-Henrietta alum, leads Queens and the conference with her 19.1 points per game this season. The senior guard is shooting 41.1% from the field, 37.8% from three-point range, and a solid 83.2% at the free-throw line.
 
As a team, the Knights lead the conference in defensive rebounds per game with an average of 28.4. In total rebounds per game, the team is third with 42.8 rebounds per game.
 
UP NEXT
Roberts Wesleyan closes out the regular season at home next Saturday when they host No. 17 New York Institute of Technology at 2pm.
 
The Redhawks are set to host Houghton in the NCCAA East Region final on Wednesday, Mar. 6. The winner of the game qualifies for the upcoming NCCAA National Tournament.
