Women's Basketball Downed by St. Thomas Aquinas

Box Score ROCHESTER, N.Y. (February 6, 2013) – The Women's Basketball team fell to St. Thomas Aquinas College this evening, 64-56.

The Redhawks were led by senior Sarah Alwardt, who scored a team-high 12 points after going 4 of 7 from the field and a solid 4 of 5 at the free throw line.  

Roberts Wesleyan jumped out to a 27-19 lead with 2:27 left in the first half, but the home team was unable to maintain the lead going into the second half.

After going into the locker room with a 32-38 lead, the Spartans used a 14-5 run over the first eight and a half minuntes to start the second half to take a 46-35 lead over the Redhawks.

Down the stretch, the Redhawks were unable to dig themselves out of the hole as the visitors defeated Roberts Wesleyan for the second time this season.

Ashley Cianfriglia added 11 points  for Roberts Wesleyan as Marissa Sell hauled in a game-high 11 rebounds.

As a team, the Redhawks struggled to shoot the ball effectively as they shot just 33.9% from the field while shooting a respectable 76.9% from the charity stripe.

The loss drops the Redhawks to 10-10 overall and 5-8 in the ECC.

The team travels to take on LIU Post this Saturday before visiting Dowling College for a match-up on Monday.
