ROCHESTER, N.Y. (March 11, 2013) – The Women's Lacrosse team fell to Buffalo State, 21-14, this afternoon in non-conference action.
The Redhawks were led by senior
Vanessa Sell, who had a game-high seven goals off of just nine shots.
For much of the first half, the teams traded goals until the visiting Bengals scored five straight to make it a 9-4 lead. Sell would score with less than two minutes remaining in the half to make it 9-5 at the break.
The second half opened with Buffalo State scoring four of the first six goals to take a commanding 13-7.
The Redhawks responded by scoring four straight to cut the Bengals lead to just two with 20 minutes remaining. Buffalo State, however, reeled off six unanswered goals to take secure the win.
Roberts Wesleyan struggles to win possession in the game as the Bengals edged the Redhawks in draw controls and groundballs.
Freshman
Loren Dunn scored a hat trick in the game for the home team as
Alison Kendall added two goals.
Lauren Meuller and Billie Jo Marrs each scored once.
Buffalo State's Becca Martinez also scored seven goals to lead the Bengals off of just nine shots while assisting on two more goals.
The loss drops Roberts Wesleyan's record to 3-2 overall.
Up next for the Redhawks is a game at Morrisville State this Saturday at 2pm.
