ROCHESTER, N.Y. (March 22, 2013) – The Women's Lacrosse team plays their first-ever East Coast Conference game tomorrow when they travel to take on Mercy College at 11am.
SCOUTING ROBERTS WESLEYAN (4-2/0-0 ECC)
The Redhawks are coming off a solid 22-8 win over Morrisville State last Saturday. Freshman
Loren Dunn paced Roberts Wesleyan with a game-high seven goals off of just 10 shots. Dunn was 2 of 2 in free position shots.
Dunn leads the Redhawks through six games with 24 points (23 goals, 1 assists) in her debut season. The East Rochester, N.Y.-native ranks third in the conference in goals and is fifth in shots (45).
Senior goalkeeper
Stephanie McClure has 31 saves to her credit after playing nearly 230 minutes in six games for the Redhawks. McClure currently holds a .431 saves percentage.
SCOUTING MERCY (4-1/0-0 ECC)
The Mavericks have shot out to a quick 4-1 record to start the 2013 season. The team's only blemish is a narrow 13-12 loss at Philadelphia University on Mar. 13. In that game, Mercy's Tracey Wandle tied the game at 11 before Philadelphia scored two of the last three goals to secure the win.
Wandle leads Mercy with 19 points (10 goals, 9 assists) through five games while Kelsey Bub leads the team with 12 goals.
The Mavericks have a total of nine players who have scored this season with seven of those players having scored at least five goals.
Stephanie DiLegge has logged nearly every minute in goal for the Mavericks, making 54 saves and holding a .551 saves percentage. The senior ranks fourth in the ECC in saves while leads the conference in save percentage.
UP NEXT
Roberts Wesleyan returns home to begin a four-game home stand that starts Thursday, Mar. 28 when they host Wells College at 4pm. Last season, the Redhawks defeated the Express, 13-3.
Two days later, the team hosts Grand Valley (Mich.) State at 11am as part of a lacrosse doubleheader with the Men's team that day.
