ERIE, Pa. (March 8, 2013) – The Women's Tennis team fell to Edinboro (Pa.) University, 5-4, this afternoon in non-conference action.
The Redhawks, who were competing in their first spring season match, won two out of three doubles results before dropping four singles matches.
In doubles action,
Dina Obukhova and
Maria Jimenez won at first doubles by defeating RyAnne' Baldwin and Kednal Stephens, 9-8 (3-0).
Kaitlyn Zaffuto and
Emily Linhart downed Nevena Kulina and Lydia Browne, 8-6.
Jimenez and Zaffuto were also winners in singles play. Jimenez won at third singles after winning 7-5, 6-3, over Stephens as Zaffuto won sixth singles after defeating Browne 6-4, 6-4.
The loss drops the Redhawks to 8-7 and will look to rebound Saturday when they take on the Lakers of Mercyhurst (Pa.) College.
