Women's Lacrosse Comes Back to Win Home Opener, 14-12

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (March 9, 2013) – The Women's Lacrosse made a thrilling comeback to defeating the visiting Fighting Scots of Edinboro (Pa.) University this afternoon, 14-12.

The Redhawks, who trailed 11-6 at halftime, scored the next eight goals of the game to pick up the win.

With 10:20 remaining in the game, Alison Kendall scored for the Redhawks to tie the game at 11-11. Then Vanessa Sell scored with 6:47 left on the clock to give the home team the lead.

The Redhawks held Edinboro scoreless in the second half until Shannon Rohrich scored her fourth goal of the game with just 13 second left in the game.

Sell led the Redhawks with five goals off of nine shots. The senior was 2 of 3 in free position shots while leading the team with five draw controls.

Kendall scored four times off of six shots and went 3 of 4 in free position shots.

Freshman Loren Dunn scored three goals in the game and continues to lead the team with 13 through four games.

In goal, Stephanie McClure made 14 saves as Edinboro posted 32 shots in the loss.

The win gives the Redhawks their first home opening victory in program history while improving their record to 3-1.

Roberts Wesleyan has little time to savor the win as they host Buffalo State this Monday at 4pm.
