Women's Lacrosse Falls to St. Thomas Aquinas

SPARKILL, N.Y. (April 20, 2013) – The Women's Lacrosse team fell 19-13 on the road against St. Thomas Aquinas College this afternoon.

The home standing Spartans pulled away from Roberts Wesleyan over the final eight minutes of the first half, scoring four of the five goals in that stretch.

After the intermission, Roberts Wesleyan scored two quick goals to make it a 10-7 game before St. Thomas Aquinas reeled off five of the next six goals to permanently distance themselves.

Freshman Loren Dunn led the Redhawks with four goals off of five shots to go along with a team-high four draw controls.

Marissa Sell notched three goals, all of which came off of free-position shots. Sell also recorded four draw controls in addition to one caused turnover.

Ali Fox, a freshman scored twice while also recording two assists.

Stephanie McClure played all 60 minutes in front of the net for Roberts Wesleyan, recording seven saves.

For the Spartans, Genevieve Stickney recorded a game-high six goals.

The loss drops the Redhawks to 6-6 overall and 1-3 in the East Coast Conference.

Tomorrow at noon, Roberts Wesleyan will travel to Brookville, N.Y. to square-off against the undefeated and top-ranked LIU Post.
