Women's Lacrosse Upended by No. 1 LIU Post

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (April 21, 2013) – The Women's Lacrosse team fell to the top-ranked LIU Post Pioneers, 20-3, this afternoon in an East Coast Conference game.

The game marked the first time Roberts Wesleyan has ever faced a team ranked No. 1 in the nation.

The Redhawks, who were playing their second game in as many games, were unable to get on the board until Loren Dunn scored with 2:33 left in the first half.

In the second half, the visitors received goals from Marissa Sell at the 25:50 mark and Kelsey Covel with just 59 seconds left on the clock.

The undefeated and defending NCAA Division II national champions were led by Jackie Sileo's six goals.

In goal, Stephanie McClure recorded five saves after facing a season-high 37 shots by the Pioneers.

The loss drops Roberts Wesleyan to 6-7 on the year and 1-4 in ECC action. The Redhawks are off until Thursday when they travel to take on SUNY Canton for a 4pm non-conference game.
