Women's Lacrosse Defeat Bridgeport to Earn First-Ever ECC Win

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (April 6, 2013) – The Women's Lacrosse team defeated the University of Bridgeport, 16-11, this afternoon in East Coast Conference action. The victory was the Redhawks first-ever conference win.

Roberts Wesleyan got off to a hot start, scoring the game's first eight goals until Bridgeport stopped the bleeding when Alexia Costa scored with just nine seconds left in the first half.

In the second half, the visitors out-scored the Redhawks 10 to 8, but the home team managed to hang on for the win.

Alison Kendall led the Redhawks with a game-high five goals off of seven shots, including one free-position goal. Kendall also posted a team-high five groundballs.

Ali Fox netted four goals for Roberts Wesleyan as Kelsey Covel and Marissa Sell each added two goals.

In goal, Stephanie McClure six saves to pick up the win.

The Redhawks improve to 6-4 overall and are now 1-1 in the ECC.

Roberts Wesleyan hosts Dowling College next Saturday with the game scheduled for 3pm.
