Rochester, N.Y. (September 28, 2013) - Deja vu for the men's team as their battle with Daemen went into over time today. Earlier this month Roberts fell to Daemen in a 2-3 loss to the Wildcats in over time. Payback was sweet as Roberts earned their first conference win with a golden goal in the 95th minute to win 2 - 1.
Colton Orbaker scored the first goal in the 29th minute to give Roberts the lead. Daemen answered quickly in the 34th minute with a goal off of a free kick. The game was physical with both sides receiving yellow cards. Free kicks made for some great opportunities, but neither Daemen nor Roberts could put one away before the 90 minutes were up.
The Homecoming crowd was ready for a win and they got it in the 5th minute of over time.
Alex Harling had a great left footer into the side netting from an unbelievable angle. This came after a cross by
Jake Zito was fumbled around in the box.
Roberts hopes to use this win to propel them forward through the rest of their season. Their next game is Tuesday October 1 at 7pm. They take on previous conference rivals, Houghton College.
