Men's Soccer Falls to Daemen in Dramatic Fashion

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (September 5, 2013) – The Men's Soccer team gave it their all in the season opener before falling to Daemen College at home, 3-2, in double overtime.

The game was counted as a non-conference affair as the team will meet again for their East Coast Conference game on Saturday, Sep. 28.

The Redhawks fell behind early after the Wildcats' Kyle Clifford netted the first goal in the fifth minute fo the game to give the visitors an early edge.

However, just two minutes later Johnny Lobene equalized with by sending a header past Daemen's goalkeeper , tying the game at one goal apiece.

At the 20-minute mark, Clifford gave the visitors the lead which would hold up for most of the way until Brandon Bianchi tied the game in the 79th minute, sending the game into overtime.

After a scoreless first overtime session, the Wildcats found the game winner when Alex Reid sent home an easy five-yard shot near the right post.

Roberts Wesleyan did their part, out-shooting Daemen 17-9 while not allowing the Wildcats any corner kicks.

The Redhawks will look to bounce back this Saturday when they host former NCCAA East Region rivals, Nyack College, for a 2pm game.
