Rochester, N.Y. (January 10, 2014) – Roberts Wesleyan Women's Basketball team defeated University of District of Columbia 78-74 this evening in conference play. The Firebirds are currently third in ECC standings.

 
Lakia Huff gave the Redhawks an early lead with a quick layup seconds into the game. Roberts remained in the lead for a majority of the first half. The firebirds took the lead at the end of the first half with two successful three pointers in a row. One made by Telisha Turner, she currently leads the ECC in points per game. The first half ended 38 -41 Firebirds.

 
Roberts took the lead back early in the second half with points coming from Marissa Sell she finished with a double double, 10 points and 11 rebounds and from Chelsea Sanders who finished the game with 25 points and 9 rebounds.  Samantha Courtney was key for Roberts she also finished with a double double, 19 points and 14 rebounds.
 

As a team the Redhawks shot and impressive 52.8% from the field, 50% from long range and 53.1% from the line.  The win takes Roberts to 6-6 and 2-4 in the ECC.

The Redhawks are on the road next weekend; they play University of Bridgeport Friday January 17^th at 5 pm.
