Oakdale, N.Y. ( January 18, 2014) - Women's Basketball was unable to maintain the lead and fell to Dowling College this afternoon in conference play.
Roberts started out trailing Dowling College, a 3 pointer from
Ashley Cianfriglia put the Redhawks on the board to cut the lead to 1. Cianfriglia is currently 2
nd in the ECC for 3 point percentage; she ended the game contributing 4 assists and 5 rebounds. The first half was evenly matched, the lead changed 5 times with 3 ties. The lead on either side never went beyond 5 points. Roberts would end the half in the lead 23 – 19
The second half was a stark contrast from the first. Early in the half, Dowling was able to bring Roberts to a tie (23-23).  Junior
Marissa Sell  was able to hit a Jumper to take the lead. Sell also led the Redhawks with a double double  15 points and 13 rebounds for the game. Unfortunately Dowling came back to go on a 16 -2 run. After this Roberts was unable to retake the lead or even bring Dowling to a tie.
Other impact players include recent ECC Â co-player of the week
Chelsea Sanders as she totaled 8 points and 5 rebounds and freshman Guard
Imani Pierce who added 8 points and 3 steals.
Both teams shot 19 for 54 from the field, Roberts shot slightly worse than Dowling at 2-11 from long range. The Redhawks went 3-6 from the line, compared to Dowling's  10-13.
The loss puts Roberts at 6-8 and 2-7 in the ECC.
The Redhawks return home for next weekend's games they are scheduled to play Friday January 24 against Mercy College at 6pm, they then turn around to play St Thomas Aquinas Saturday at 2pm.
