Women's Basketball Downs Mercy - Roberts Wesleyan University Athletics

Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. (February 28, 2014)- The Women's Basketball team played Mercy on the road this evening in conference play. Roberts ended winning 93-78.

Mercy got on the board quickly into the first half, Senior Chelsea Sanders answered with a quick jumper to tie. Ashley Cianfriglia hit a 3 pointer shortly after to give the Rehawks the lead. Mercy would never come back after this.

Both Cianfriglia and Sanders were key for Roberts. Cianfriglia would lead in points ending with 26 point. She shot and impressive 8-11 from beyond the arc. She would also add 6 assists. Sanders led the Redhawks in rebounds and posted a double double with 11 rebounds and 17 points. Sanders would also have 6 assists.

Roberts largest lead of 27 points came with 12:30 to go in the game on a 3 point play by Christina Healy. Healy would end the night with 10 points and 6 rebounds. Defensibly Carnesha Henry added 8 rebounds.

The Redhawks scored 19 second chance points and 16 off of turn overs.

Junior Marissa Sell added 15 points and 9 rebounds, #Emily Piacentini also put up 9 points for the Redhawks.

The Redhawks ended the night going 54.5% from the field, 44.4% from the three point line, and 60% for free throws.

The win puts the Redhawks at 14-11 and 10-9 in the ECC.

The Redhawks play their last season game this Sunday, March 2nd at St Thomas Aquinas.
