Women's Basketball Falls in Final Minutes to Queens.

Rochester, N.Y. (February 7, 2014) – The women's basketball team lost to Queens College, 56 to 62, this evening in conference play.   The Redhawks were unable to hold onto their lead late in the second half.

Roberts came out strong in the first half and were able to end the half up by 11 points. The Redhawks defense was able to hold Queenns Maddison Rowland to 0 points in the first half, Rowland currently leads the ECC in points per game averaging  20.5 points.

Chelsea Sanders scored 9 of her 14 points in the first half, contributing to Roberts 42.5 shooting percentage in the first half.  Classmate Samantha Courtney also Contributed 9 points in the first half, she would end the evening with 13 points and led the Redhawks with 7 rebounds.  Marissa Sell also scored in the double figures for the Redhawks with 12 points and 6 rebounds.
 
Roberts struggled to keep their lead in the second half, shooting only 28% from the field. For a 5 minute span to the last 2 minutes of play, Queens shut down Roberts offense, they were unable to score.  The lead change left Roberts down by 8 with a minute to go.
 
Roberts really struggled to get any rebounds in the second half. Defensively the Redhawks totaled 9 rebounds to Queens 20.
 
The loss drops Roberts to 10 – 10 overall and 6 – 8 in the ECC.  The Redhawks have a quick turn around and play Molloy College tomorrow Saturday February 8th at 2PM at home.
