Women's Tennis Ready for NCCAA National Championships

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (May 2, 2014) – The Women's Tennis team is set to compete in the NCCAA National Championships next week, which runs May 6-9.

Under third-year head coach Rebecca Bonner, the Redhawks are making their second consecutive trip to the competitive tournament, which is held at the Mobile Tennis Center in Mobile, Ala. Roberts Wesleyan is currently seventh in the NCCAA national rankings.

Roberts Wesleyan, who enters the tournament with a 16-5 overall record, finished fourth in the East Coast Conference standings this past fall with a 5-3 mark. The team is currently riding a six-match winning streak and has won seven of their last 10.

Opening the eight-team tournament, the Redhawks will play three pool-play matches against Azusa Pacific (Calif.) University, Southern Nazarene (Okla.) University, and Campbellsville (Ky.) University. The match against Azusa Pacific is the opener on Tuesday at 8:30am, which is followed by the Southern Nazarene match at 2:30pm.

The final pool-play match is slated for Wednesday morning at 9am against Campbellsville.

If Roberts Wesleyan advances out of pool-play, they will play in a single-elimination semifinal the following day. The championship match will be held on Friday at 9am.
