Women's Tennis Drop Two Matches at NCCAA National Championships

Box Score (Azusa Pacific) | Box Score (Southern Nazarene)

MOBILE, Ala. (May 6, 2014) – The Women's Tennis team suffered a pair of losses at the NCCAA National Championships today.

In their morning match, the Redhawks fell to Azusa Pacific (Calif.) University, 5-0. The nationally ranked Cougars got by Roberts Wesleyan with relative ease. At first singles, Tina Miller lost to No. 24 ranked Emily Harris 6-0, 6-0. Harris, who is also ranked No. 17 in doubles play, teamed up with Natalie Johnson to take down Miller and Fatima Ouattara at first doubles, 8-0.

The Redhawks then battled Southern Nazarene (Okla.) University before falling, 5-3, in the afternoon match.

Against the Crimson Storm, Kaitlynn Zaffuto downed Haley Cantwell 6-1, 6-0 while their two other wins came by default at sixth singles and third doubles. At fourth singles, Camilla Linhart gave a great effort before falling to Karina Kotova 6-3, 6-2.

The two losses eliminate the Roberts Wesleyan's hopes of advancing to the semifinals on Thursday, but they will try to end the season on the high note as they wrap-up pool play. The match is tomorrow morning at 9am against Campbellsville (Ky.) University.
