Women's Tennis Fall to Campbellsville in NCCAA National Championships

MOBILE, Ala. (May 7, 2014) – The Women's Tennis team ended the 2013-14 season with a 5-1 loss to Campbellsville (Ky.) University at the NCCAA National Championships.

The Redhawks earned their lone point of the match at third doubles, where Emily Linhart and Kaitlynn Zaffuto narrowly defeated the Tigers' Lindy Charity and Kelsie Peckham, 9-8 (7-5).

Campbellsville, who are ranked No. 20 in the NAIA rankings, swept the singles matches. Anna Tumanyan edged Tina Miller 6-1, 6-1 at first singles as Maria Jimenez fell 6-2, 6-1 at second singles. Camilla Linhart also lost at fourth singles 6-0, 6-0.

Both Fatima Ouattara and Julia Vitale were competitive in singles matches, but those were unfinished. At third singles, Ouattara led Janna Salle, 6-5, as Vitale took her first set 6-1 against Kelsi Peckham.

Despite the three losses to end the season, Roberts Wesleyan had one of their most successful seasons, finishing the campaign with a 16-8 overall record and a .667 winning percentage. Under third-year head coach Rebecca Bonner, the Redhawks matched their wins total from the 2010-11 season when they went 16-6.
