Box ScoreROCHESTER, N.Y. (Sep. 10, 2014) – The Women's Tennis team suffered a 5-4 non-conference loss to Le Moyne in their home opener on Tuesday.
The Redhawks were competitive from top to bottom, but were unable to earn their first win of the early season. Roberts Wesleyan found points at first doubles as
Fatima Ouattara and
Klara Lang downed Rithika Vajjiravelu and Amica Benoit-Limosani, 8-2. The team also won at second doubles with
Natalia Cardona and
Tina Miller edging the Dolphins' Christina Perry and Jessica Geary, 8-5.
Miller also won at fourth singles by downing Dominique Canale 6-4, 6-0 for the Redhawks as
Camilla Linhart won at fifth singles with a 6-1, 6-4 score against Jessica Geary.
Le Moyne managed to win several close matches, including a victory at first singles as Vajjiravelu defeated Ouattara 6-2, 3-6, 5-4. Cardona also hung tough for the Redhawks before falling to Christina Perry 2-6, 7-5, 6-4.
Roberts Wesleyan, who is 0-3 overall and 0-2 in the ECC, resumes conference play today when they travel west to take on Daemen in Buffalo at 4pm.
