ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Roberts Wesleyan women's basketball used a 32-point second quarter to cruise past Nyack, 94-73, in their season opener this evening.
The Redhawks, hosting the ECC-CACC Challenge, saw 11 players score in the winning effort as
Brooke Fields led all scorers with 22 points. The sophomore went 8 of 14 from the field while adding six assists and two steals.
Senior forward
Samantha Courtney added 17 points, hitting 6 of 7 shots from the field, while wrapping up the game one rebound shy of earning a double-double.
As a team, Roberts Wesleyan shot an effective 49.3 percent from the field and a solid 31.6 percent fron long range.
For Nyack, Jessica Logemann paced the visitors with 17 points after draining four three-pointers.
The game was the regular season debut for new head coach
Gary Andrews, who saw his team hold Nyack to a paltry 34.7 percent shooting percentage from the field.
Roberts Wesleyan is back in action on Saturday at 4 p.m. when they host Post (Conn.).
