Men’s and Women’s Track and Field Teams Compete in the Brockport Mid-Season Classic

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (February 8, 2015) – The Track & Field teams had a successful weekend at the Brockport Mid-Season Classic

The men's 4x200 relay team ran 1:31.11 to set a school and facility record. The team won the 4X200 with an exciting with just one hundredth of a second lead over Geneseo State.  The team was comprised of all classes with David Donovan, a sophomore, Jared Gonzalez, a freshman, Aaron McGinnis, a junior and Gabe Rivera, a senior. Gabe Rivera also placed second in the high jump (1.88m, 6' 2") and 5th in the 400 (51.31). His time for the 400 makes him third All-Time in the 400 for Roberts Wesleyan. David Donovan placed fifth in the long jump (6.37m, 20' 10 1/2") and eighth in the 200 (23.66).  As a whole, the team finished eighth out of 14 schools.

Freshman Chelsea Hayward led the women's team to a third place finish out of 13 colleges.  For the sixth consecutive meet Hayward set a new school record.  In the 400m Hayward ran 1:00.53 to break her own record and place second in the race.  She also won the 200m (26.20), placed 3rd in the long jump (5.10m, 16' 8 3/4") and anchored the 4x200 team to a third place finish (1:49.62). The 4X200 team is now ranked number two all-time at Roberts Wesleyan.  Other members of the team were Danielle Budd, Madison Gosch and Heidi RiegelDanielle Budd placed eighth in the 60 (7.27) and eighth in the 200 (27.57). 

Sophomore Kasey Semmler set a personal best in the pole vault clearing 3.35m (10" 11 3/4") placing her third at the meet and number five all-time at Roberts Wesleyan.  Senior Rachel Hust ran the 400m in 1:01.99 to place third. The time also places her fourth all-time at Roberts Wesleyan.  Victoria Houser placed fourth in the weight throw (14.02m, 46').  Megan Hulton placed fifth in the mile with a time of 5:17.41. In the long jump Kati Dovi placed fifth with a 4.94 jump.

The men's and women's track & field teams compete next weekend on Valentine's Day at Colgate's Class of  '32 Invitational in Hamilton, N.Y.
