Loren Dunn Scores Eight Goals to Lead Women's Lacrosse Past Lake Erie

The junior attacker paced the Redhawks with eight goals off of just 11 shots

PAINESVILLE, Ohio (March 25, 2015) – Roberts Wesleyan picked up their sixth win of the season as Loren Dunn matched a program record for goals in a single game.

The visiting Redhawks edged Lake Erie this afternoon, 13-12, in overtime as Dunn netted a game-high eight goals off of just 11 shots. That mark ties the record as Cassley Jackowski managed the same feat at Florida Tech this season while current assistant coach Alison Kendall had set the record in the 2012 season against SUNY Canton.

Roberts Wesleyan looked to be in command of the game when they led 10-5 early in the second half, but the Storm rallied back by scoring seven of the final nine goals of the game to force the extra six minutes.

Dunn found the back of the net to win the game with just 2:44 remaining in the overtime session despite Lake Erie holding the edge in shots.

Five other players scored one goal each, including Jackowski and Ali Fox who also recored an assist.

Defensively, the visitors caused seven turnovers as Lake Erie committed a total of 14 turnovers in the first-ever meeting between the two programs. Individually, Marissa Sell was credited with two caused turnovers while also earning five draw controls.

Shannon Knapp did her part in goal, making 12 stops to preserve the win. She also earned two caused two turnovers in the winning effort.

Roberts Wesleyan improved to 3-1 in overtime games this season while improving their overall record 6-4.

Up next for the Redhawks is an East Coast Conference road game at District of Columbia this Friday at 3 p.m.
