WASHINGTON, D.C. – Roberts Wesleyan picked up their biggest win of the season, handing District of Columbia their first conference loss of the season, 72-64.
Samantha Courtney paced the Redhawks with 19 points while
Brooke Fields added 17 points in the winning effort.
The win gives the two teams a split of the season series as the Firebirds earned a triple-overtime win at Roberts Wesleyan earlier in the season.
How It HappenedThe Redhawks took the lead got good with 1:32 remaining in the game when
Taylor Bynoe hit a jumper, giving the visitors a 64-62 advantage.
Down the stretch, Roberts Wesleyan hit all six of their free-throws to seal the victory.
Key StatDespite committing four more turnovers than the Firebirds, Roberts Wesleyan used strong shooting around the basket, shooting 43.8 percent from the field.
