Roberts Wesleyan knocked off the conference leaders with a 72-64 win on the road Sunday afternoon

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Roberts Wesleyan picked up their biggest win of the season, handing District of Columbia their first conference loss of the season, 72-64.

Samantha Courtney paced the Redhawks with 19 points while Brooke Fields added 17 points in the winning effort.

The win gives the two teams a split of the season series as the Firebirds earned a triple-overtime win at Roberts Wesleyan earlier in the season.

How It Happened
The Redhawks took the lead got good with 1:32 remaining in the game when Taylor Bynoe hit a jumper, giving the visitors a 64-62 advantage.

Down the stretch, Roberts Wesleyan hit all six of their free-throws to seal the victory.

Key Stat
Despite committing four more turnovers than the Firebirds, Roberts Wesleyan used strong shooting around the basket, shooting 43.8 percent from the field.

Inside the Numbers
- Roberts Wesleyan shot an effective 85.2 percent at the charity stripe, going 23 of 27.  
- Four players scored in double figures as Necedah James scored 14 points while Bynoe added 10 for the Redhawks.
- District of Columbia received 29 of their points from the bench as Brandi Henton poured in a game-high 27 points.

The forward was 7 of 8 from the field while going 5 of 6 at the free-throw line for Roberts Wesleyan. The senior added two blocked shots while grabbing six boards.
