WINONA LAKE, Ind. –Roberts Wesleyan women's basketball are the 2015-16 NCCAA national champions after defeating top-seeds Colorado Christian 70-58 in the championship game Saturday afternoon.

The championship is the first for the program, which wrapped up its season with a team-record 29 wins.

Roberts Wesleyan was led by Brooke Fields' 20 points

How It Happened
Trailing 28-27 early in the third quarter, the two-seed Redhawks used a 16-0 run over nearly five minutes to change the course of the game, which was spurred by eight points from Fields, a sophomore guard, who hit two three-pointers in the run.

The Cougars rallied to make it a five-point game before Roberts Wesleyan went on a 16-5 run to start the fourth quarter, making the score 62-46 with 5:20 remaining in the game.

The Redhawks went to the free-throw line often in the game as they finished 23 of 36 (63.9 percent).

Inside the Numbers
- Samantha Courtney added 11 points as Necedah James chipped in 10 points.
- As a team, Roberts Wesleyan forced 21 turnovers from the Cougars, scoring 23 points off the miscues.
- For their efforts, Courtney was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player while Fields made the All-Tournament team. Head coach Gary Andrews was named the NCCAA Coach of the Year.
