Rochester, N.Y. - The Roberts Wesleyan men's soccer team lost to the Le Moyne Dolphins Tuesday night, 2-0.
A defensive breakdown in the 23
rd minute gave Le Moyne the lead when freshman forward Salar Faryar was able to dribble the ball past charging goalkeeper
John Ciavaglia and slot the ball into the open net.
In the 33
rd minute junior midfielder
John Stewart nearly closed the deficit when his shot from 18 yards out hit the right post, but ricocheted out of bounds.
The Redhawks picked up the pace of play in the second half with several opportunities in the box, but the Dolphins defense packed the box tightly and was able to deflect open shots.
Le Moyne added an insurance goal at the 54 minute mark when Sam Daniel connected with senior midfielder Callum Donnelly on a corner kick. Donnelly beat the defender near post to head it past Ciavaglia.
Ciavaglia recorded seven total saves in the game with Le Moyne getting off 19 shots and nine on goal. The Redhawks had ten total shots with two on frame.
Roberts Wesleyan will begin conference play on Friday when they play Saint Thomas Aquinas at RWC Stadium at 7:30 p.m.
