Moody Scores Two Goals In Loss to UDC

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Senior Sam Moody's two first half goals were not enough on Wednesday afternoon as the Roberts Wesleyan men's soccer team fell to the University of the District of Columbia, 4-2.

Moody put the Redhawks up 2-1 in the first half with goals in the 13th minute and 24th minute. The defender's first goal of the game came off a free kick taken 18 yards out that ricocheted off the right post into the goal. On the second goal Moody connected on a header off a long thrown in by fellow central defender Elijah Jarvis. It was Moody's fourth and fifth goals of the season.

The Firebirds answered with a penalty kick goal just over 10 minutes later to tie the score at 2-2. Gabriel Torres was the goal scorer for his second of the game. His first goal came in the 7th minute of play.

UDC scored the game-winner just under five minutes into the second half. Raphael Pacano's goal at the 49:46 mark was assisted on by Torres and Luciano Cahe. The Firebirds added the insurance goal in the 85th minute to take a 4-2 lead.

Roberts faced an onslaught of shots in the game with UDC firing off 26 shots to seven from the Redhawks. Senior goalkeeper John Ciavaglia made eight saves in the game.
