Men's Soccer Puts Up Four Goals in Win Over Pitt-Johnstown

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Roberts Wesleyan men's soccer team improved to 3-6 on the season with a dominating 4-1 win over Pitt-Johnstown on Wednesday night.

Roberts controlled much of the possession on the field creating offensive opportunities that led to 21 total shots including 12 on goal.

Junior transfer Juan Ospina-Betancurt got the scoring started for the Redhawks in just the fifth minute of play when he ran on to a ball that was dropped by the visitor's starting goalkeeper Nate Kleya.  It was Ospina's first goal of the season.

The Mountain Cats answered with a goal of their own in the 14th minute when Alex Laslavic's shot from 18 yards out curled into the top right corner of the net.  But it was all Roberts from there on out as freshman midfielder Marko Mitrevksi scored his fourth goal of the season just over one minute later. The assist on the game-winner went to senior defender Sam Moody.

Joining in on the goal scoring for the Redhawks was attacker Barrington Smith (28th minute) and Terrell Spencer (52nd minute). Smith's goal was set up by Logan Wood after the senior blasted a shot 20 yards out that bounced off Kleya. Smith ran onto the ball and scored six yards out. Spencer's goal came courtesy of a perfectly placed through pass from Ospina. Spencer finished the shot low to the right hand side of the goal.

Mitrevski had six shots total in the game with five on target. Senior goalkeeper John Ciavaglia only needed to make one stop in net in win.

Roberts Wesleyan will have its hands full on Saturday as they take on East Coast Conference powerhouse LIU Post. The Pioneers currently hold an undefeated 6-0-1 record. Game time is slated for 2:30 p.m.
