Men’s Golf Wins Redhawks Invitational

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Roberts Wesleyan men's golf team topped the competition at the Redhawks Invitational held on Sunday and Monday at Ridgemont Country Club placing first overall.

The Redhawks claimed first place also individually and had three athletes in the top ten. Roberts Wesleyan shot a two-round total of 589 (+13). This put the Redhawks in first place by thirteen strokes to second place finisher Mercyhurst University who shot a 602 (+26).

Brandon Grzywacz placed first overall shooting a six under 138 for the tournament. With this score, history at Roberts has been made as Grzywacz set a new 36-hole school record. The Clarendon, NY native had the tournament's low score shooting a 68 (-4) in the opening round and a 70 (-2) to close the second round.

Some other notable performances include a fifth place finish by senior Erich Spitz as he shot a 70 (-2) in the opening round and a 79 (+7) in the second round on the par 72, 6,679 yard course. Senior Alec Kunzwiler tied for eighth place with a seven-over 151 and junior Grant Brongo shot an eight-over 152 tying for 11th place.

Next up for the Roberts Wesleyan men's golf team is a trip to Manlius, NY as they will compete in the Lemoyne Fall Invitational October 19 and 20 at the Cavalry Golf Club.
