
ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The Roberts Wesleyan women's tennis team will advance to the East Coast Conference Championship tournament for the first time in program history with a 7-0 win over Molloy College on Saturday in a match played at Midtown Athletic Club.

"It was senior day, and it was only fitting that our three senior co-captains led the way for us," commented coach
Tom Linhart after the match. Â

Seniors
Nthabi Mogopodi and
Andrea Gallardo won at first doubles and then went on to win at first and second singles respectively. Senior
Marousia Bosch teamed with sophomore
Laura Freeman to win at third doubles. Bosch then went on for a straight set win at third singles.Â

Salome Darsalia and
Bijisha Shrestha combined to win at second doubles to give the Redhawks a sweep.Â

Other singles winners included freshman
Leonie Spreng at 6
th singles, Shrestha at 4
th singles and Freeman at 5
th singles, all in straight sets.Â

"Advancing to the ECC tournament for the first time is quite an accomplishment for this group of young women," said Linhart. "They have worked hard all season, overcome some setbacks and achieved this milestone goal for our program. I could not be more honored or humbled to be part of their success."

The Redhawks travel to New York City on Thursday and will open East Coast Conference Championship tournament play on Friday at 9 a.m. The Redhawks are the No. 4 seed and will take on top seeded Queens College.
